All Yesterdays: Art, Science, & Watercolor

All Yesterdays: Unique and Speculative Views of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Animals (Irregular Books, 2012) deserves a huge shout-out for its imaginative blending of art, science, prehistoric creatures, and watercolors.  Paleontologists and artists John Conway, C.M. Kosemen, Darren Naish, and Scott Hartman play with the space between “the observed” and “the imagined” in fossil reconstructions – sketching the skeletal morphology of their dinosaurs before adding a layer of playful inference in their final renderings.

The result?  Beautiful, provocative watercolors igniting one’s inner paleo-enthusiast.
